Fall Baseball and Spring Varsity Coach Vincent Ruscio

Coach Vincent Ruscio will be entering his 7th season as a member of the Patriots baseball program. He has coached all levels and seasons including the 2012 Legion team, which finished runner-up in the annual Mert Letofsky Tournament. Vincent will be serving as the pitching coach this season and will continue to throw as much BP as the wing allows! Vincent recently spent 2 1/2 years as a physical education and health teacher at GW and is currently working on his master’s degree. Overall, this will be Vincent’s 22nd year coaching which has ranged from elementary golf coach to varsity basketball head coach. Vincent is DPS through-and-through having attended Knight Academy, Merrill Middle and Thomas Jefferson High School and receiving his bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver. In this forthcoming season, Vincent will be supported by his wonderful bride Kyra and the happiness of his every day, 2 1/2 year old daughter, Kaylee.

Varsity Coach Justin Vela

Coach Justin Vela is entering his 6th season coaching high school baseball, and 5th with GW Patriots Baseball.  Prior to coaching, he attended Wheat Ridge High School where he played football and baseball. Recently, he graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver where he studied business administration. Sports have always been one of his biggest passions, hoping one day to pursue a career in operations for any sports organization.  This spring, he will work with Varsity Hitters and Outfielders, helping players improve their skills and knowledge of the game.

Jr. Varsity Coach Tony Chapman

Coach Tony Chapman has been the Head JV Coach at George Washington High School for 15 years, since 2006. He currently teaches at McAuliffe International School in Denver and has been with Denver Public Schools since 2001.  Prior to moving to Denver Coach Chapman grew up in Nebraska, where he graduated from the University of Nebraska Kearney with a degree in Health and Physical Education.  He is excited for another great season with the George Washington Baseball Team.  Coach Chapman will oversee all positions of the JV program, helping players improve their skill and knowledge of the game.  Our goal every year is to improve as players, as well as people, and to help our program grow and maintain our position as one of the top Baseball schools in DPS.
